Moving the Kennelco Film Diary
Folks, for better or for worse, hopefully for better, I am moving the film diary to a Blog format. My hope is that added functionality like comments and all the other Blog type things (hopefully “Search”) as well will improve this information for people.
Strangely, I have been somewhat attached to my old format from a simple aesthetic perspective, and haven’t wanted to do this. Also, when I began the Film Diary in 2002, I was rather adamant that it wasn’t a “blog”. Oh well, it’s not like the world lives and dies by my comments on films anyways.
Well, let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Ken

It begins as a sharp, darkly forbidding background and quickly fades into a soothing play of green-on-white. By moving the main text into the foreground, framed and discreetly boxed, opinions and comments are presented in an easy-to-read format that encourages interaction with the reader.
The sidebar navigation menu remains unobtrusive, allowing the reader to pursue various options for more information.
The characters are rendered in a two-dimensional sans-serif mode, without gratuitous “Flash” or banners, a welcome respite from the sensory assault that usually accompanies more egocentric productions.
Overall, a pleasant viewing experience…

Actually, this design is “out of the box” so to speak, one of about 6 to choose from. I have had in mind to redesign when I get the gumption. But many have appreciated the fact of readability and so forth, so I am not messing with it any time soon.
