Dramas, especially Hollywood dramas, aren’t typically my bag. Actorly or even when done well, there usually isn’t much that I find compelling. I think I like my genre film with a bit less austerity, self-importance, and whatever.
I’d heard that this film was actually good and had considered seeing it. Then a friend of mine from Boston told me that it really exemplified life in Boston, the culture, the people. For some reason, that made me more curious.
It’s a well-made film, with good acting, drama, mystery, and a hefty dose of ambivalent morality. I actually thought that this film was pretty good. But, frankly, I don’t have a lot to say about it.
